She first appeared in 1912 in the German book "Die Biene Maja" by Waldemar Bonsels, but only became truly world-famous thanks to the television series and cartoons. In Dutch, we know her as Maya, while in German she is still called Maja.
Maya is known for her curiosity and adventurous spirit. Instead of strictly adhering to the rules of the hive, she ventures out into the wide world to make new friends and experience exciting adventures. Together with her loyal friend Willy, who prefers to take it easy, and the clever grasshopper Flip, she discovers the extraordinary nature around her.
