Keith Haring (1958–1990) was an American artist and activist known for his iconic, playful, and brightly colored visual language that brought the street and the art world closer together. He began his career in the early 1980s in New York City, where he first reached an audience with chalk drawings on empty advertising spaces in the subway. His style, featuring thick black lines and energetic, dancing figures, quickly became recognized and beloved worldwide.

Haring's work went beyond mere cheerful images. He used his art as a means to raise awareness of social issues, such as racial equality, AIDS awareness, and the fight against apartheid. His art was accessible to everyone: from murals in underprivileged neighborhoods to collaborations with brands and music stars.

In 1986, he opened the Pop Shop in New York, where he offered his art on affordable products, believing that art wasn't just for museums and the elite. Despite his untimely death at 31 from AIDS, Haring left behind a tremendous legacy. His work lives on in museums, on the streets, and in countless collaborations, and his visual language remains a powerful symbol of creativity, freedom, and social engagement.
